What is the difference between a Carbon Edition & Black Edition Q Follow?

In terms of features and performance, there is no difference. The difference comes with the look of the Q Follow. The Black Edition showcases matte black wheel arches, handle plaque, rear spine and undertray while the Carbon Edition has these same parts in a carbon finish.

What is the difference between a Q Follow & X9 Follow?

The Q Follow is built on a totally new chassis which has several design features. The most significant is the folded size, which means the Q is 40% smaller volume when folded and has a 65% smaller footprint thanks to its ability to stand vertically. The Q can be lifted with one hand thanks to the central lifting handle. The chassis also has an stabiliser that deploys automatically when unfolded, which improves performance on hilly courses. The Q is supplied with a SmartPower battery as standard, which links to a free smartphone app by Bluetooth to allow you to monitor battery power exactly. Other differences include 4 accessory points, higher umbrella holder mount, handset storage, bag key, silicone top strap & soft touch handle.

How does the Follow system work?

Mounted just inside each rear wheel, two red follow antennas work together to create two zones around the Q Follow; a neutral zone and an active zone.

When the handset is inside the neutral zone (approximately 1m from the trolley), the Q Follow will remain stationary. As the handset enters the active zone (1-3m away), the Q Follow's electronics system will automatically & independently alter the speed of each rear motor to keep its pace. When the golfer (and therefore the handset) come to a stop, the Q Follow will continue until the handset is back inside the neutral zone when it will also stop. The effect is that of digital elastic band, which stretches and contracts as you walk.

Can I set walking speeds?

Yes. You are able to program your own walking speeds in to the numbered buttons on the handset.

Can I use the Q Follow without the handset?

The Q Follow can only be operated via the handset (unless the wheels are in freewheel).

What is the pattern that is visible on the chassis?

The 5 key structural components of the Q (the chassis, front wheel frame, stabiliser arm, main support and handle) are all manufactured from a special microcellular composite material.

The manufacturing process for these items produces a component in which its outer surface is denser than its inner core. The core is of a honeycomb nature and less dense than the outer surface. The combination results in a component of a high stiffness ratio compared with conventional processes.

The nature of the process creates a unique surface finish that exposes the flow lines of the material, leaving an effect that is reminiscent of a combination of marble and wood grain. This natural finish will differ from machine to machine, so each Q Follow that is build will be truly unique!

BATTERY:

How long will the battery last?

The Q Follow is supplied with a 384Wh battery that is capable of 36 holes on most golf courses.

Every Q Follow is supplied with a SmartPower battery, which connects to a free smartphone app. The app provides real time data on many aspects of the battery, but most importantly will tell you exactly how much capacity you have remaining. You will soon get to know how much you use on various courses and how consumption changes with conditions.

A hole of golf can be anything between 100 and 700 yards long, so is not a reliable unit of measurement, especially when you take the distance between green and tee in to account too. Terrain, ground condition, bag weight, and a number of other factors can make a big difference. Imagine running along a flat concrete road as opposed to up a steep sand dune & you'll get the idea.

The quality of the golf also affects how far you walk. A golfer shooting 65 will walk a lot less than a golfer shooting 110 and zig-zagging up the fairways! This scenario would also see the steering being used more, which also consumes more power.

How often do I have to charge the main and handset batteries?

We recommend that the handset and SmartPower battery are charged after you play. If you have not played for a number of weeks then it is advisable to ‘top up’ the batteries just to be sure they are at full capacity.

If you’re not going to play for an extended period then both batteries should be charged fully after the last use, then once a month to keep them topped up.

Do I have to remove the SmartPower battery to charge it?

Yes. The connections are concealed on the underside of the battery, so are not exposed when in place.

CLEANING AND USE:

How do I clean it?

After your round, clear grass, leaves and dust etc from the machine using a soft cloth/brush or compressed air. Clean your Q Follow using standard furniture polish and a soft cloth.

NEVER use a hose or pressure washer to clean the Q Follow: faults caused by water ingress will not be covered by the warranty. Water cannot enter the motors or electronics in normal use.

Can I use my own bag or do I need a Stewart Golf one?

The latest 2020 Stewart Golf StaffPro and SuperSport bags have a key in their bases that prevents any twist of the bag when in use, but any cart or tour bag can be used. Lightweight or stand bags are not recommended.

The Q Follow is optimised for use with golf bags weighing 14kg. Using a 'top heavy' stand bag reduces the load on the front wheels, which means the steering may react faster than intended, and a heavier bag will slow steering, increase battery consumption and wear on key components.

Can the Q Follow cope on hills?

Yes. The Q Follow chassis has been designed with stability in mind. The machine may tip onto the rear stabiliser wheels, but if this happens don’t worry as that’s what they are designed to do.

Bag weight and weight distribution makes a big difference here, a light and/or top heavy bag will not put enough weight on the front wheels and therefore it may tip easily. You will find out which hills work with your particular setup through experience.

Is the Q Follow OK to use in the rain?

Yes. The Q Follow is designed for use in all conditions appropriate for golf. The design of the Q Follow protects the major components from rain, so water ingress cannot occur during normal use. You should avoid any situation where moisture or water could reach the electronics or motors. Some examples of this are:

• Driving through puddles or standing water.
• Submerging the machine in a river or lake.
• Faults caused by water ingress will not be covered under the warranty.
